Google introduced Bluetooth to the world’s smart home devices last year.
The technology is used by smart home hubs and is meant to be used for audio and video conferencing, but it’s also capable of connecting to a wide range of other devices.
This month, the company has announced it is changing how you use Bluetooth, adding support for the ‘Walkies’ standard and the new Bluetooth LE standard.
The Walkie Talkie accessories are available for purchase on Google’s site now, and can be used to control your smart home gadgets from anywhere, whether it’s in your living room or on the go.

Bluetooth LE is a technology that allows for wireless communication between devices, but as with all Bluetooth accessories, it’s not fully Bluetooth compatible.
This means the Walkie talkied accessories are still Bluetooth-compatible, but the Bluetooth audio and media streaming technology used to communicate with them are not.
While the Walkies don’t work with any smart home hub, they can still be used as a standalone device to control devices connected to the hub.
It’s important to note that the Walkied accessories will not work with Google’s new ‘Bluetech’ standard.
Google says that the new technology is designed to be compatible with existing products and is not intended to replace or replace Bluetooth technology, but you’ll still be able to use the accessories to control other Bluetooth devices.
